Overview
I was responsible for creating a number of visual design concepts across a number of different Ford vehicles, as well as elements for the global design system.
Approach
Working closely with theFord team from concept stage to production, I iterated on both 2D and 3D visuals to be in both the instrument cluster and infotainment screens
Main Screen Icons
The display system hosted UI experiences to control complex and wide ranging in-car options, 3D motion design featured on a pillar-to-pillar 55” curved screen that serves as both instrument panel and infotainment system. I worked alongside UX and UI designers to build the composed driver and passenger 'story' which highlighted key functions and drive modes in the car.
This accounted for in-car functions such as media and entertainment, navigation, parking assistance, ADAS applications, climate and seat control, speed, fuel level, trip, temperature, and air vent control.
Center Controller Tutorial
Aside from the CELESTIQ, I designed and animated various other UI interactions either for concept or production level vehicles which appear on the center infotainment screen.
One of these is an animated walkthrough of the interaction patterns for the center console rotary controller. The goal was to present user interactions in an elegant way that carried the brand identity.
